'We will not be silenced': Filibuster-famous Wendy Davis says women must speak up to fight sexism
Wendy Davis made national headlines in 2013 when she filibustered for 11 hours on the floor of the Texas State Senate against a bill that restricted abortion access in the state. The following year, when she ran for governor of Texas as a Democrat, journalists asked her if she felt she had been treated differently in politics because of her gender.
“I answered, ‘No,'” Davis said on the most recent episode of Re/code Decode, hosted by Kara Swisher. “And I answered ‘no’ because I was afraid of coming across as a victim. If I could go back and do it differently, I would."
