Wendy Davis made national headlines in 2013 when she filibustered for 11 hours on the floor of the Texas State Senate against a bill that restricted abortion access in the state. The following year, when she ran for governor of Texas as a Democrat, journalists asked her if she felt she had been treated differently in politics because of her gender.
“I answered, ‘No,’” Davis said on the most recent episode of Re/code Decode, hosted by Kara Swisher. “And I answered ‘no’ because I was afraid of coming across as a victim. If I could go back and do it differently, I would.”
